To promote exchanges and cooperation with mainland universities and help new exchange students better integrate into campus life, School of Liberal Arts of Macau University of Science and Technology held a welcome ceremony for exchange students in the afternoon of October 13, 2023. Over 250 students from over 40 partner universities and institutions came to Macau University of Science and Technology for exchange.
Vice-president Kwong Ying Wa delivered a speech.
Dr. Kwong Ying Wa, Vice-president of M.U.S.T., thanked the partner institutions for their accreditation and support towards M.U.S.T. and comprehensively introduced the development of the University. He said that the SLA has been responsible for undertaking exchange student programs in all majors of the University since 2021. It has achieved fruitful results. He has witnessed the development of this exchange program, and has also seen that exchange students from all over the country achieving academic success in Macao in the past few academic years. He hoped that the exchange program could become a link for in-depth cooperation between Macau University of Science and Technology and its partner universities and institutions, and expressed his best wishes for all exchange students’ studies and health at M.U.S.T.
Secretary General Chen Jimin delivered a speech.
Ms. Chen Jimin, Secretary General of the M.U.S.T. University Council, delivered a speech introducing the educational history of M.U.S.T. She claimed that the exchange student program is a concrete measure of M.U.S.T. supporting Macao’s exchange study. She encouraged the exchange students to utilize their time in Macao, focus on their studies and strive to become patriotic and Macao-loving person with professional skills and international vision. She also hoped the students could experience the charm of M.U.S.T. and learned about the development of Macao in diverse aspects including social, cultural, business, technology through this program.
Associate Vice-president Aliana Man Wai Leong delivered a speech.
Prof. Aliana Man Wai Leong, Associate Vice-president of M.U.S.T. and Dean of SLA, thanked the University leaders, faculties and administrative departments for their immense support, and shared the development and implementation status of the SLA and the exchange student program. She emphasized that SLA would promote exchange student programs with greater effort in the future and provide exchange students with a multi-dimensional curriculum system and diversified campus activities. In the past two years, the number of applicants and partner universities and institutions for exchange programs has been growing. With the strong support of all the faculties, the exchange students are enrolled in nearly 2,000 courses. She wished the students a pleasant and fulfilling learning experience in M.U.S.T., brought the knowledge learnt at M.U.S.T., the friendship between M.U.S.T. teachers and students, and the warm and hospitable qualities of Macao people back to the country.
Student representative Ma Xinhan delivered a speech.
Ma Xinhan, the representative of exchange students, thanked M.U.S.T. SLA for providing an exchange platform. She hoped that all of the students here could treasure the time in M.U.S.T. They could feel the warmth of home, as well as making great harvest in their study here. She took this opportunity to advise all students to actively cooperate with university work, conscientiously complete the tasks assigned by the faculty, improve their sense of responsibility and be proactive. She wished that all student could show their talents on this broad stage, and continue to move closer to a better self, so as to accomplish their dream.
The welcome party for exchange students came to a successful conclusion, but this was only the students’ initial exploration at M.U.S.T. We hoped that all students can make full use of their time in Macao in this semester, learn new knowledge, experience new life, and achieve rich results.
