The 2024 Graduation Ceremony of the Faculty of Liberal Arts of Macau University of Science and Technology was successfully held in the afternoon of June 12, 2024, in the Block D Conference Hall of the university. This ceremony marked the completion of studies of SLA’s first cohort of Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Hospitality Management students. They were prepared to enter a new stage of life.
Guests in attendance included: Mr. Ao Pak Loi, member of the M.U.S.T. University Council, Dr. Kwong Ying Wa, Vice-president of M.U.S.T., Prof. Van Iat Kio, member of the SLA Advisory Committee and President of Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau, Mr. Chan Ka Leong, member of the Liberal Arts College Advisory Committee, member of the SLA Advisory Committee, member of the Executive Council of Macao S.A.R., and Vice President of Escola dos Moradores de Macau, Dr. Jones Chao, member of the SLA Advisory Committee and Vice President of Human Resourses of SJM Resorts, Mr. Jorge Valente, member of the SLA Advisory Committee and President of the Sino-Luso Industry and Culture Exchange Promotion Association (Macao), and Mr. Jimmy Chim, Vice President of the Macau Fair & Trade Association.

There were about 340 faculty members, graduates, relatives and friends attending the ceremony. Prof. Aliana Man Wai Leong, Dean of SLA, pointed out in her speech that the teachers and students of SLA have grown and transformed over the past four years. The number of papers published by the faculty has increased tenfold. Students have been awarded scholarships by major institutions. She then expressed her best wishes in the future careers and future careers and educational journey of the graduates.

Prof. Zhao Xinyuan delivered a speech as the teachers’ representative. He wished the graduates to be grateful, cherish blessings and adapt to fate in their future lives. He hoped that these beautiful qualities would make them shine the most dazzling light, achieve an extraordinary career and live a wonderful and meaningful life.

Speech by Ms. Li Silin
Ms. Li Silin, the graduate representative, delivered a speech to thank M.U.S.T. for creating an international platform for students. She stated that M.U.S.T. has been actively assuming social responsibilities, and continuously providing high-quality talents for the development of Greater Bay Area. She also expressed her sincere gratitude to all the teachers and encouraged her fellow schoolmates to not forget their beginnings in the road ahead and to stay firm in every challenge.
Subsequently, Dean Leong awarded the bachelor's degree certificates to the graduates, and Vice-president Kwong Ying Wa awarded the honor cords to two graduates with outstanding academic performance, Ms. Li Silin and Ms. Fang Xinyu.

At the end of the ceremony, all teachers, students and guests sang the school song together, in hope that the students would always keep in mind the university motto “dedication to practical studies, enhancement of knowledge, ability and quality” in their future lives. Graduation ceremony is not an end for graduates, but a new starting point. They will either enter the society or continue their learning in higher institutions. The successful holding of the graduation ceremony drew a satisfactory end for the students' study journey at M.U.S.T. SLA. It also sent them the best wishes for the new chapter they are about to start.
